The multifunctional DISPAB system combines classic protection of the vineyard against violent weather events and animal attack with several benefits for espalier management.
The DISPAB system represents the pinnacle of evolution and innovation in the sector.
SPS, the company that developed and perfected the system, carried out grape comparison tests, which revealed substantial differences in the level of quantity of grapes produced, grape health and phenological cycle shift.
Results of analyses on protected grape varieties with DISPAB nets
The effect on the microclimate of the bunch and the leaves, caused by the net, generates differences from the point of view of plant ecophysiology, which are reflected in the analytical data of the grapes at harvest.
Here are the results of tests performed in 2023 with the DISPAB System.
Larger quantity
20% more quantity produced. The lower exposure to the sun's rays resulted in a lower temperature on the surface of the bunch, and consequently lower evapotranspiration. By losing less water, the bunch remains more swollen and turgid. A lower loss of product for animal protection must also be considered.
Maturation cycle
The net creates a change in the microclimate of the bunch, which is less exposed to the action of the sun and its effects. This causes a slowing down of the phenological cycle and, consequently, of the ripening and harvest date.
